Can anyone give me info / advice on installing a P4 engine into a P3. What are the main hurdles etc ? I have obtained a clutch release bearing tube which I understand I’ll need. Thank you in advance. Tim

Hi Willem,A few thoughts that may be useful:Gearbox and clutch - the gearbox will need to be removed from inside the car so the carpets, tunnel cover and front seats need to come out first. Then the pedals so the metal floor plate can be removed. Also the corresponding plate on the near side. It […]

Adrian,I’ve no idea where you are in the country, but you are welcome to look at my car if that helps? I’m in Essex. Failing that there must be a RSR member close enough to compare.Final thought on your problem; I’ve got a vague idea that there should be a spring inside the compression tube. […]

Just add some shims between the two parts. (probably the hand brake pulling rod is not adjusted well, but the shims solution works well)

Thanks to all for your replies. However, I'm not sure that I have made it clear what my problem is..... The front and rear compensators have all been re-bushed as has the front to rear compensator. All the Clevis joints have been replaced and their rod ends welded and re-drilled. I have been through the brake […]

    • Wilks' cars P1 and P2, thats cars up to 1947 • Re: External oil filter
ACZS1 is the replaceable bypass cartridge filter that was standard on Rover 20hp cars and optional equipment on other P2s. Many Fram filters were fitted as an aftermarket option.ACZS1 was fitted to a number of other vehicles including series 1 Landrover. They are very hard to find these days and expect a bidding war if […]

Good morning, The seasonal rabbit hole of last has been a survey, or really it has turned into a census, of Rover North America, and later British Leyland (NA) advertising. While Rover NA was established in 1958, it wasn't until 1959 that the first advert appeared (for the 3 litre). Advertising continues, sometimes with a […]

    • Wilks' cars P1 and P2, thats cars up to 1947 • Re: 1947 14 P2 Coolant and fuel pump questions
The electric pump is a very good idea indeed for one reason in particular, the original engine mounted mechanical fuel pump is conveniently located in a very hot part of the engine bay behind the radiator and underneath the exhaust manifold. It is connected to the carb via copper pipes and many people found that […]

    • Wilks' cars P1 and P2, thats cars up to 1947 • Re: External oil filter
On the subject of replacement oil filters, another solution might be a conversion kit available from J R Wadhams, https://www.jrwadhams.co.uk/product/oil ... -kit-html/this would convert your adaptor to something that will accept a modern screw on filter unit. It might be just as easy to make an adaptor of your own to fit your original filter […]
