- New members • Re: New Member in DorsetHello William and welcome to the RSR and the Forum. What colour is the cover of the workshop manual and are the pages A4 sized? I ask because the later versions have a series of wiring diagrams towards the back of the manual.Best regardsMike Maher RSR ChairmanGOY189
- New members • New Member in DorsetHi All,Having been a lurker for a while now, I have just joined the RSR as the new owner of a 1939 Rover 16. Runs and moves under it's own steam but in need of some serious TLC after 30 years off the road. The basics look pretty sound and the worst bit seems to […]Burgundy
- Wilks' cars P1 and P2, thats cars up to 1947 • Dynamo removalAny tips for taking the Dynamo off?My blue car has no shroud on the radiator ( which doesn't seem to affect the cooling (new radiator!) and is not too difficult. The green car has a shroud (and a Special Equipment dynamo - still a C45PV3). The adjuster bolt and the rear "hinge " bolt are easy […]David2021

- Wilks' cars P1 and P2, thats cars up to 1947 • Re: Starting ProblemsThe AC Type T Fuel Pump has been rebuilt with an ethanol resistant diaphram and fitted. She now starts up fine and runs well, but when I take her out for a test drive she is still under powered, pops and bangs but will occasionally run OK but then back to below par again.Having done everything […]AFPU
- Wilks' cars P1 and P2, thats cars up to 1947 • Re: Starting ProblemsThanks for all the responses and having blown through the fuel lines and checked the carb it turns out it must be the fuel pump.So now I am awaiting delivery of a repair kit for the AC Type T pump. That will then hopefully cure the problem as she starts with the float bowl full, […]AFPU
- Wilks' cars P1 and P2, thats cars up to 1947 • Re: Clutch, and steering box refurbMorning Riley,I'm collecting the last bits on Saturday so I can get everything back together again. The freewheel needed some attention, there was a a bit of an oil leak from the output shaft, the cork seal had perished, now no longer available, the freewheel housing has now been reworked to accept a lip seal, […]Willem
- Wilks' cars P1 and P2, thats cars up to 1947 • Re: Clutch, and steering box refurbMorning Will,Sounds like a great winter project On those older setups, you can usually do the clutch with the engine in place, especially since you’ve got a lift, that’ll make life much easier. You generally won’t need anything too exotic tool-wise, but an alignment tool for refitting the clutch plate is definitely recommended to save […]Riley
- Wilks' cars P1 and P2, thats cars up to 1947 • Re: Starting ProblemsI would leave the carburettor jet adjustment nut alone, this is not the cause of your starting problems. That nut will make some slight adjustment to the mixture to ensure smooth idling, it will not change fundamentally the air fuel mixture for the rest of the rev range, that is done by changing the needle.
