RSR Forum posts- Wilks' cars P1 and P2, thats cars up to 1947 • Re: 1939 P2 R10 starter motorDear Andy, In addition to the excellent advice from Tony, can I add that the sleeve is also available from John Wearing who also say they make them, or have them made exclusively - photo of their part below :https://www.johnwearingp4parts.co.uk/pr ... rod=260046When you take the starter apart (which is straightforward), could I ask you please […]SHyslop
- Wilks' cars P1 and P2, thats cars up to 1947 • Re: 1939 P2 R10 starter motorAndy,I can’t remember exactly, but there is a rubber interface (steel outer) as part of the starter drive. If this unit is perished the rubber no longer grips the steel and the starter doesn’t engage. However, on the bench the motor may appear to be working as there is no load on it to facilitate […]TonyG
- Wilks' cars P1 and P2, thats cars up to 1947 • 1939 P2 R10 starter motorHaving sorted my steering problem I can't start the car, the starter motor runs but does not engage. I've taken the motor out and everything seems to work. Powered up on the bench the dog flies out and returns when powered off. I've read posts that suggest moving the motor further forward but that doesn't […]ANDY

Below is their response**************************************23 February 2026Government responded to this petitionThe Government has no plans to reduce Vehicle Excise Duty liabilities for vehicles aged 20 to 39 years. - Wilks' cars P1 and P2, thats cars up to 1947 • Re: rover 10 p2 steeringHi Tony, I've been away for a while and only just picked up your reply. Thanks for the tips, it does make sense that the horn assembly stays still while the wheel turns but I couldn't remember if that was the case. I don't have manual A/R so the only controls are horn and passing […]ANDY
- Wilks' cars P1 and P2, thats cars up to 1947 • Re: Replacement Jaeger Clock FitmentMany thanks again. So it looks like the replacement clock I have is an earlier 35/36 type clock as it does not have a removable bezel but the 2" sort of depth casing incorporating the bezel with the countersunk screws. It is good to know that the bezels should be black, as I could therefore […]AFPU
- Wilks' cars P1 and P2, thats cars up to 1947 • Re: Replacement Jaeger Clock FitmentGood, I was going to change my original reply as I remembered that when describing how the shaft comes off, that only applies to the later designs. The earlier models have the winder going straight up into the back of the casing which is held on by small countersunk screws. Chrome bezels were fitted certainly […]SHyslop
- Wilks' cars P1 and P2, thats cars up to 1947 • Re: Replacement Jaeger Clock FitmentMany thanks for the concise details on how to remove and fit the clock. The winding mechnism on the replacement I obtained does indeed protrude from 6 or 7 o'clock (see attached picture), so looks to the right part and also has the blue transparent strip.I think all my instruments are original as the bezels are […]AFPU
- Wilks' cars P1 and P2, thats cars up to 1947 • Re: Replacement Jaeger Clock FitmentTake nothing apart. The clock should not require any dismantling. For a 1937 12 (or 14), the Rover part no for the clock is 05350 and for a 10 of the same year it is 05349.Th 05349 has a much longer winder rod projecting from 6 o clock whereas the winder I think you need […]SHyslop
- Wilks' cars P1 and P2, thats cars up to 1947 • Replacement Jaeger Clock FitmentI am after some guidance on fitting a replacement wind up Jaeger clock into my dashboard. When I acquired my 1937 Rover 12 the clock was not working, so I had been in the look out for a working repalcement; which I have now acquired. My current non-working clock does not have the winding/adjustment mechanism attached, […]AFPU
