- Wilks' cars P1 and P2, thats cars up to 1947 • Re: Petrol Pump repair/replace - 1937 12 P2It'll probably have been replaced. The delivery pressure for these should be 1 3/4 lbs. This is the lowest for an AC pump and they can go up to 5 lbs(Buick) but probably the most common ones, for an Austin , are 2 1/4lbs.The spring under the diaphragm controls this. There's usually a number on […]SHyslop
- Wilks' cars P1 and P2, thats cars up to 1947 • Re: Fuel Gauge not working : gauge or sender fault?I would guess at a stuck sender. You can check it before taking it out by disconnecting the cable at the right hand end of the sender unit and connecting it to a good earth (clean metal). It should show empty or full when connected or disconnected. The arms stick at the pivot point and […]SHyslop
- Wilks' cars P1 and P2, thats cars up to 1947 • Fuel Gauge not working : gauge or sender fault? The petrol gauge on a 1937 p2 is not working. When the ignition is switched on the needle moves very slightly ... but then stays there irrespective of amount of fuel in the tank.I don't have a wiring diagram - and both manuals are out of stock. How do I determine whether it's the gauge, wiring, […]P27
- Wilks' cars P1 and P2, thats cars up to 1947 • Re: Petrol Pump repair/replace - 1937 12 P2I've removed the AC pump and it's a Type U - so has the original has been replaced at some time? Are Type U OK for this engine - The engine number is: 811721*. (e.g. the 'throw' of the cam/lever is not too large), or the spring pressure too great? Are originals pumps still obtainable? Or should […]P27
- Wilks' cars P1 and P2, thats cars up to 1947 • Re: 1937 Rover 16 Sports SaloonI have a club magazine from Queensland Rover that featured “The Lucky Lady” my car. There were 2 previous owners mentioned in the article. This year we travelled north and I had the good luck to catch up with the owners. It was their belief that the car was imported to Australia by Doctor Hewitt. […]Ballarat Bertie
- Wilks' cars P1 and P2, thats cars up to 1947 • Re: 1937 Rover 16 Sports SaloonI was thinking about your car and your location. The bits going through my head were: a section in James Taylor's book on 30s Rovers regarding exports to Australia says :"...Rover decided to ship only complete cars (Twelve and Fourteen models) for the 1936 calendar year , and exports to Australia of bare chassis ceased." - Wilks' cars P1 and P2, thats cars up to 1947 • Re: 1937 Rover 16 Sports SaloonThank you for your reply. I have photos of a couple of 37 16 SS and both are different. I think that one was reupholstered so I won’t put a lot of hopes on it. The other is original and is what I’m trying to copy. My car was missing a lot when I bought […]Ballarat Bertie
- Wilks' cars P1 and P2, thats cars up to 1947 • Re: 1937 Rover 16 Sports SaloonIt can be difficult finding exactly the same arrangement if the design was evolving. For what it's worth, my 1938 20SS has the headlining at the rear in three pieces, sewn together. There is the material that goes round the rear window and goes to the corners, then another piece a couple of inches wide […]SHyslop
- Wilks' cars P1 and P2, thats cars up to 1947 • 1937 Rover 16 Sports SaloonCan anyone help me regarding the headlining in my 1937 16 Sports Saloon. I’m restoring my car from ground up and soon I will have the body work finished and will have to start on the interior. I have replaced all of the timber and from photos I see that the roof lining flows around […]Ballarat Bertie
